On Friday, April 1st at 16:25 the Esopus Fire Department and Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad were dispatched to a report of a roll-over motor vehicle accident in the area of 2083 Route 9W. The first arriving unit was on the scene within three minutes and reported a 3 car MVA, all victims out of the vehicles. In total, there were five patients, two serious and three minor injuries. Two patients were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie by Esopus Ambulance, assisted by Mobile Life Support Services. Firefighters also found fluids leaking from all three vehicles and running in a drainage ditch. Firefighters deployed hazmat equipment to mitigate the hazardous runoff and requested NYSDEC. DEC and a cleanup contractor responded to assist. Route 9W was closed for approximately 5 hours during the cleanup and accident investigation. Esopus Firefighters were assisted by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Mobile Life Support Services, Saint Remy Fire Department, Ulster County Emergency Services, New York State Police, Ulster County Sherriff's Office, Town of Lloyd PD, Central Hudson, and the New York State DEC.
