On Friday, February 25th at 11:53 the Esopus Fire Department and the town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad were dispatched to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident, head-on with injuries and entrapment in front of 1113 Route 9W. The first arriving unit was on the scene before the dispatch and found a motor vehicle accident involving two cars with entrapment and 4 patients. Firefighters deployed extrication tools often referred to as the “Jaws of Life” and were able to free 2 patients within 11minutes from the time of the accident. All 4 patients were transported by Esopus Ambulance to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Route 9W was closed for approximately 1 hour.
